Flores, Guatemala

Another Bus ride - another Country - worse than Belize. A 4 hour ride to Flores. This Bus was so crowded that we had to stand next to the Bus driver nearly the whole time. Normally 35 seats - I guess we were about 80 people. Plus the mad bus driver who didnt stopped for anything alive on the street, except he could push more and more people in it. with 110 km per hour we were the fastest on the street. Behind us were another 30 people standing next to each other. Next to us a whole family on 2 seats, right to us a buch of crazy guys, 5 of them on 2 seats. Crazy. But it was kind of fun if there would have been better air in it. :)

We only stopped two times - Police check. Whatever they were checking - I have no clue. Everybody had to leave the bus, it seemed that there was no end! The police is standing arround with massive shot guns which gives you a "huhhhhh"... But guns are so normal in Guatemala and nearly every big supermarket, transporter or banks have got mens with shotguns in front of it.
I dont know if it is a scary - or safty feeling everytime I see them.

Flores is an Island in Lago de Peten Itza and located very beautiful with colourful houses, nice small bars with a view on the lake. You can easly hang arround for a while doing nothing.

I bumped into Tracey and Eric, the american couple I stayed with for a couple of days in Belize. We lost each other on Caye Caulker so I was very happy to see them again. We spend a few dinner and drinks together here in Flores.
