Caye Caulker - San Ignacio - Barton Creek

Its still the same Friday and we were on our way to San Ignacio, the western part of Belize. Grabbed the bus to Belize City - survived and didnt got robbed there - got lucky with a seat and drived along evergreen woods, colourful houses and small villages till we finally reached San Ignacio. A cute little city in the outer west of Belize.

Our destination was a Outpost Station in the jungle - and not easy to reach.
So asked arround and already the first taxi driver gave us a very cheap price - we gave him a ride he will not forget very soon.
We packed our stuff in his car and on the way he confessed that he never went to this place before. Well, after this ride, he will never go there again!
The road must have been the worst in Belize and the 20 km where the longest I´ve ever done. First the street was lightly sealed - turned to bigger stones and deeper washouts and on nearly every stone we left a marking with the undersurface of the car... The taxi driver was maaaaad about that road and we tried to keep a good mood but every " bsshhhhhh" and "krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrft" we just prayed..
Finally we made it to the River Creek, said Good Bye quickly ( gave him more money for the repairs of the car :) ) and walked the last km to the hidden Barton Creek Outpost Station.

Barton Creek Outpost, Cayo District, Belize

Here, you fall asleep with the rush of the creek and wake up with the sunrise jungle noises of hundrets of birds. Absolutly beautiful - a place to fall in love with. We had no electricity for the first two days which made the atmosphere even better. Just a few candles the chirr of the insects and the lighteffects of the fireflies. We were totally alone out here with a nice english couple, sleeping on mattress under the roof.
Finally a good and of this hexed day, Friday the 13.

This is the view from our sleeping place!
