Great Blue Hole, Lighthouse Reef, Belize

Finally I am on the way to the Great Blue Hole. I skipped the breakfast because of the nearly 3 hour ride through blue water, lonely Islands, 5 m waves and Dolphins.

The Blue Hole is a large underwater sinkhole, 300m wide and 120 m deep. Once it was a limestone cave, but when the sealevel rised up, the caves flooded and the roof collapsed.

I buddied up with a guy from Italy named Marco, together we listened to the very short and wierd briefing of the dive Instructor which was like: ; well you are not diving the first time so we get down to 40, very fast ( never been that deep before ! ) , if you like this dive or not - I dont care!¨
In this moment I could have punshed him in his face but then he would have lost the only 3 teeth he´s owning.
Another sip from the Coke Bottle for him - yeah for sure Coke - before we entered the water and descended quiet fast to 40 m. It looks like an endless dive with a dark bottom and nothing else there. Then we finally reached the 40, and dived arround a "small" cave with massive Stalagtites (5 - 10 m long! ). Very impressive. We saw a huge black Grouper and two sharks passing bye slowly in the deepth..

We were quite happy with this dive and watched the the Blue Hole from top of the boat till it finally disappeared. Well, we disappeared to the next diving site which was very nice, tons of amazing corals and some Eagle Rays.

Half Moon Caye Island, Lighhouse Reef, Belize

For lunch we stopped on an amazing small Island which is full of Frigit Birds, Hermit Crabs and the Red footy Boobybirds ( you only find them here or on Galapagos Islands! ) , Magnificent Frigit Bird, Hermit Crabs and lots of Coconuts. Actually we found a little fluffy Baby on the ground and had to bring it to the "Rescue Station" where it will get raised by hand. So cute little baby!

Back on the boat, everybody was getting drunk with a yummy Rum punsh, except our Diveguides - they were already drunk :))
