Daintree Nationalpark, Queensland

The way into the Rain Forest is just amazing, a small street leads u behind steep cliffs and giant humid trees. The humidity is so high that everything is wet in the car, all our clothes, sleeping bags and seats.

The national park is listed as a world heritage side (including the Great Barrier Reef ) and is absolutely amazing. Growing constantly since 110 Mio. years, it´s one of the oldest Rainforests in the world.

Cape Tribulation

One of the famous beaches is the one of Cape Tribulation.

This is the place where Captain James Cook landed after his ship ran on a reef in 1770.

Well, I have the feeling that this Captain was everywhere, in every little town they have a story to tell about him.

It´s a lovely beach surrounded by wild growing palm trees and mangroves with crocodiles in it. We met a huge goanna on the beach and saw some lovely birds and other crawling creatures.

We watched out all the time for the most dangerous bird on earth, the Cassowary.

Everybody is scared of it, it can kill u with his sharp claw, is very big and can run 50 km/h.

We sneaked into a motel area to use the kitchen and the shower as suddenly a cassowary crossed our way. He seemed harmless and we followed him slowly in the forest. He´s beautiful and made his way without being annoyed from us. Lucky us! We saw him.

While walking through the area I also came across to guys I met in Thailand. Such a small world.

We took some hidden paths through the deep jungle in the hope to find a small Creek, the only one u can swim in without crocs.

During the night, the rain was so hard that it rained through our roof and wetted everything we had. Never had such a rain before, it was like parking underneath a waterfall.
