Searching a cheap place with all my stuff and a humidity of 1000 % wasn’t funny at all. But found a small place without windows but a rooftop to watch my first rain after 3 month. Heavy rain and big thunderstorm chased me ( you know I am the biggest thunderstorm wimp ever ) but I couln´t stop watching the lightning’s over the city. One of them hit a crane on a roof next to us.
I met a great german guy and we hang out the days together discovering the city which is so untypical clean and doesn’t fit into southeast Asia at all. Thanks to crazy penalty´s for lot´s of things you can nearly eat from the ground.
Jaywalking, littering and spitting or eating in the MRT: 500 – 1000 $ Penalty. Chewing gum is also illegal! isn´t that crazy???
Is that a sign of pleasantness or naivety of the Singapore civilisation? Or am I just too cruel about it? Would you accept this or are you like me . . . laws are there to brake them ?! :)
Well I had the feeling that everything is forbidden and just these things were allowed – eating gambling and shopping.
It all looks the same for me so we just visited some places, we thought may be spectacular but couldn’t find anything that gives me an “ oh wow” or “ uhhh, look at that!”. Like Santosa Island. Nothing special, just crowded by tourist.
We had more fun in one of the biggest nightclub “ Zonk” and drank the night away, dancing and partying with Singapore people who took pictures of us the whole night. I guess we were the only Europeans between hundreds of Asian people.
All in one, Singapore is a nice city, mixed with culture and modern architecture, lots of people and penalty signs.
For us its time to leave..back to Australia. Thank god.
Flo is driving back to Germany with his car from Australia – you should check out his homepage! Crazy.. www.quernachhause.de.vu
