NEW ZEALAND – In the Land of the long white cloud

November 2007

Welcome in the land of smoking volcano’s, spitting geysers, bubbling lakes, steaming woods and tongue twisters. Every city has got a beautiful name, you just can’t pronounce them.
“Sorry, we can´t let you in! “
Those were the first words on the airport. What?? I have got a flight to Auckland, but didn´t book any to leave New Zealand. My flight to Fiji as a prove that I will leave NZ didn´t count for them, and I had to book a return flight straight away before our plane would leave without us.
At midnight in Auckland, Francis (Jen´s husband) picked us up and drove us 3 hours trough the dark in direction east.

Papamoa Beach, that´s were my friend Jen is living and she allowed us to stay in her house for a while, which was lovely. We had our own room with a huge bed, a garden, a Jacuzzi underneath the stars, a dog and they even offered us a car! Lucky us. So the adventures just can beginn..

Mt. Manganui, Bay of Plenty

This little mountain once was a Vulcano 2,3 Mio years ago. Today it is a famous place to have a walk or a dip in the w
aves of the bay of plenty. The weather was quite cold so we did a walk with Jen´s and Francis Grandchild’s around Mt. Mauao.

We were treated like family, so they took us to friends where we had a beautiful BBQ and lots of fun with Tracey and Bob´s family. We also decided to do a White Water Rafting together later.
