We always wanted to see the small hobbiton place from “Lord of the rings” but 50$ for a visit on the green hill with some holes in it was way to much. So we just figured out where the hills could be, compared it with our postcard and tada. We were close. The whole area is like little hobbiton, beautiful trees and hills. Just missing Sam and Frodo.
Waitomo Caves, North Island, NZ
Time for some Adrenalin again! The Waitomo Caves offer everything we wanted so we did a absailing - black water rafting – caving – climbing tour which was absolutely great. Over 200 Caves you can find under the green hills full with sheep. Another highlight was the millions of glowworms. We just had a little light on the head ( which was quite scary sometimes ) but if we turned it off, you could see millions of green spots, like stars, decorating the sky. Beautiful.
for the rafting we switched off our lights as well, not knowing what you will hit we followed the stream trough the dark cave.
It was the first time for us to to Caving. You just try to climb trough tiny holes and gaps. Nothing for claustrophobics!
