South Island, Nelson - Abel Tasman Nationalpark

After 2 hours on a quite rough sea we arrived on the south island. The huge ferry made her way through the bay, surrounded by mountains.

Picton – Nelson – Marahau, South Island

The way along the coast offers plenty of amazing views into beautiful fjords but you need to have a strong stomach. The streets are full of bends and we had to swap the front seats regularly.

This tiny and quite place is the “entry” to the Abal Tasman National Park which is the smallest National Park of New Zealand. We had a walk, cooked on the beach and enjoyed our overnight stay on a small spit. Perfect.

The best way to discover this beautiful park with his hidden beach and coves, is a kayak – walking tour. We paddled along blue water – even had a dolphin next to us! – through a amazing scenery before we did a walk for a few hours in the hills.

We went partying with some guys from the tour and had lots of fun. Woke up the next morning with lots of people starring curiously in our car. A market! And we parked in between it the last night. Great.
